Read Boys Coached By Leicester Tigers
Some of the pupils from the Read School had a useful training session with some of the coaches of the Leicester Tigers Academy. Ben Abrams, Sam Stephens, Tom Scholefield, Max Hammell and Eddie Liddle met up with the rest of the Selby U13s team on Saturday 29 January at a local rugby club in Leicester and met with international Argentinian rugby player, Marcos Ayerza for a Q and A session. The boys were then allowed a photo with the Tigers prop.
After this the U13s went onto the pitch to be coached by one of the Academy coaches. The Read boys put on a good performance for the Tigers coach and I’m sure he will be on the lookout for some of them in the future.
Following the training session, the young lads went to have a cheeky Nando’s before the big match of Leicester Tigers against Northampton Saints which turned out to be a great home win for the Tigers of 25-15!

Netball Teams Continue to Dominate!
Read U13 11: Hull Collegiate 4
On Monday 30 January the Read under 13s played a netball match against Hull Collegiate School U13s. After a warm up and quick team talk we had started the first quarter. In the first quarter we played hard and we were determined to score. We scored, putting us up by one goal! We kept playing hard and at the end Read were in the lead 1-0. When we prepared to start the second quarter we talked about what we needed to work on so we could put this into the game. We knew that we needed to stay focused and going into the second quarter we played really well! We showed some good defensive skills from Evie Harness and Gabby Athraby stopping Hull from scoring. At the end of the quarter Read were still in the lead. In the third quarter we played as hard as we could and scored more goals with the help of Polly Brooks feeding the ball into the circle! We were still in the lead going into the final quarter however, Hull could still come back. We played the best quarter which paid off as we won 11-4! At the end both teams picked a player of the match and Hull picked Gabby Athraby! It was a great game and we had some good goals from Polly Brooks, Isabelle Campbell-Baldwin and Martha Love!

Our Binzhou Visitors Depart, Vowing to be Back!
The Headmaster and the Binzhou students pose for their farewell photo
Although it is a week and a half since they left, we miss their cheery smiles and the enthusiasm they brought to our school whilst they were here. David their teacher-leader said his students were wowed by the completely different learning styles and forms of teaching that we use over here; as opposed to what they are used to back in China.
For our part of course, we miss the warm and friendly presence of all of the students who came to visit us. Here's to the the next visit!
