End of Year update
The school year ended on Saturday with the annual Commemoration Day celebrations and apart from a brief but heavy shower around midday, the day remained fine, but cool.
Canon John Weetman of Selby Abbey was our guest preacher for the church service in the morning and, following lunch in the Sports Hall marquee, the prizegiving ceremony took place in Moloney Hall. This year's guest speaker was Ms Wendy Singh, founder of local charity Selby Hands of Hope, who also distributed the prizes to the pupils.
The vote of thanks was given at the end by the retiring Head Boy and Girl, Daniel Phillips and Hannah Torn.
PFA Summer Ball - Nearly Black and White Night
Following the formality of the daytime events, the celebrations continued in to the evening with the PFA Summer Ball. Dancing to the Nightjars, a 3-course meal and plenty of good spirit finished off the year, raising almost £3000 for the PFA at the same time. Many thanks and congratulations to Karen Ratcliffe and her team for all their hard work in putting together the evening, which was a huge success. Looking forward now to the 350 celebrations in 2017!
